Initiate and configure your IT projects

In brief

KaliaOps enables managing IT projects with date, budget and progress tracking. Create projects of different types (infrastructure, application, security, migration), assign a project manager and link them to your organizational structure for consolidated reporting.

Overview

The Projects module in KaliaOps allows tracking IT initiatives: deployments, migrations, upgrades, security projects.

Creating a project

Access the Projects module

Menu Organization → Projects.

Click "New project"

Open the creation form.

Enter basic information

Fill in:

  • Name: Project title
  • Code: Short unique identifier (e.g., PROJ-2024-001)
  • Type: Project category
  • Priority: Critical, High, Medium, Low

Describe the project

Add:

  • Description: Context and scope
  • Objectives: Expected outcomes

Define dates

Specify:

  • Start date: Planned launch
  • End date: Target deadline

Assign responsibilities

Select:

  • Project manager: Responsible user
  • Organization: Sponsoring entity

Save

The project is created with "Planning" status.

Types and statuses

Project types

KaliaOps offers 6 project types:

Dates and objectives

Project dates

  • Start date: Project launch date
  • End date: Target delivery date

KaliaOps automatically calculates project duration in days.

Objectives

The Objectives field documents expected outcomes:

  • Deliverables to produce
  • Success indicators
  • Functional scope

Progress percentage

The Completion field (0-100%) tracks overall project progress. Update it manually as execution progresses.

Tip: Define SMART objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound) to facilitate tracking.

Assigning a project manager

The project manager is the user responsible for driving the project.

Selection

When creating or editing, select the project manager from tenant users.

Changing project manager

The project manager can be changed anytime via project editing. The change is tracked in history.

Linking to organization

Each project is linked to an organization in your structure.

Why link?

  • Reporting: Project consolidation by entity
  • Budget: Expense tracking by organization
  • Governance: Visibility for managers

Selection

When creating, select the sponsoring organization from your tenant's organization list.
